Gardener’s Creed-Part Two

Hello Friends of the Garden,

I am so glad you are here as we grow and garden together!

This afternoon I am writing our second installment of Gardener’s Creed from outside.

Sitting outside in Colorado in February? no way, but it’s true!

It’s probably false Spring. But who cares, I’ll take it!

So now I’m wondering how it’s going in your neck of the woods today….

Old as Dirt…

I was inspired to write our Gardener’s Creed because of all of my years of Gardening.

After sixty years of digging in the dirt, I know some stuff and I want to share it with you!

You’ve probably heard this saying: “Old as dirt.” Well, this is rapidly becoming my gardening motto.

I have the wisdom and the dirt on growing, so stick around with me, I am going to show you just how simple gardening is.

Patience-Nature can’t be rushed.

Thank goodness nature can’t be rushed.

We all rush around too much as it is.

Gardening has taught me a thing or two and developing more patience is one of them.

Patience in the garden has taught me to step back, regroup and live more mindfully.

Patience is a coping skill. It is a form of compassion directed towards ourselves and mankind.

Patience practiced in the garden is where I can re-center myself, while my plants grow.

Getting all impatient, irritable, short-tempered or flat out disgusted with gardening or life won’t change one thing.

Patience is a coping skill, frustration is not a key to open any door or make a plant grow any faster.

Factual Garden Knowledge

  • Variations of soil composition

  • Dispositions of flowers

  • Gardening mapping

  • Styles of gardening

  • Hands on learning on the cycles of life

  • There is a season to grow and a season to rest

How I continue to gain knowledge of myself in the garden.

Growing and maturing as a person never ends.

It is a life long journey.

The cycles of the seasons in the garden reminds me of just how brief our stay is here.

As I spend time in the garden I have noticed that an intimacy develops between nature and me.

Watching the seasons come and go gets me choked up.

I cry in the garden.

Tears of joy.

Tears of saddnes.

Friends we are just dancing on top of all of the benefits of gardening.

You won’t want to miss out on all the “dirt,” I have to share on this topic.

I’ll hope you continue to join me right here for more gardening benefits and of course gardening tips too!

As Always,
